What this site is
OverTime Gamer is an independent review site for the Nintendo Switch 2. There are 16 reviews so far, and they include Switch games that run on the Switch 2 through backward compatibility, since that is what many of us really have in the library. It was founded by 4ru4k and is written by casual players who play after work and on weekends. You can meet them on the Writers page.
Why it exists
Most reviews tell you whether a game is good. After a day of work, that is only half of the question. The other half is whether you have the energy for it tonight: how much it asks you to learn, how hard it is to beat, and how it feels on the TV and in handheld. OverTime Gamer tries to answer that second half.
What makes it different
- Effort and Challenge. Every game gets two separate numbers, one for how much it asks you to learn and remember, and one for how hard it is and what failing costs you. How I score explains both scales.
- The vibe check. Six things (looks, sound, story, chill, controls and performance) are rated out of 5, so you can browse by vibe and see the top lists.
- Tonight. Tell the finder how much energy and time you have and it picks the games that fit.
- Docked vs handheld. Every review says how the game feels in both modes and which one we would pick.
- Update dates. Every review shows when it was published and when it was last updated, because patches and upgrades change games.
How it is run
Nobody pays for the reviews and no publisher sees them before they go live. The full rules, including how mistakes are corrected, are in the editorial policy. The site has no ads, no accounts and no comments, and you can read what little data it handles in the privacy policy.
